Photobucket

After a long struggling of 7h nonstop hardwork.. I manage to finish this guy before the chalet.
I ended my work at 7am and have to go chalet and craze in 7h time... no time to rest or sleep...
All spent on travelling :(
Somehow, I find that I'm like superman.
Despite the insane 2 weeks of hard work in school everyday from 9am to 9pm...
I'm very tired... Finally everything ended today! :')
After this post, i shall sleep... till I enjoy it!

Like I mentioned earlier, this built is simple.
I kinda like this clean built this time. Probably going to try this again in the near future.
This time round, I used lots of Gaia paint. Except for red which I used a mixture of other brands.

Gold - Gaia Star Bright Gold
Black base - Gaia EX Black
White - Gaia EX White
Red - Italian Red (30%), Character Yellow (20%), Madder Red (50%)

Alright, I shall end all my blabber here. Pictures!

I haven't paint the gun at this point of time... :x

New work for the month.
Putting my 「THOUSAND SUNNY」aside for now, since this Hyaku Shiki has more priority than anything.
It is a farewell gift for a close brother of mine in my taiko troupe.
He hasn't got any gundam for a long time... (long story)
And he really loves it! Like i do...
Well, since he is going away in a month's time... I hope to rake up something awesome as a souvenir for him.
And so here we go... HYAKU SHIKI REN

First time doing remod for 144 scale kit... I gotta work hard!

Basically... this time round, I'm going for a clean painting and awesome modifications.
Not going to exaggerate on any elements of hyaku shiki. I'm going to keep it as how it should feel like.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
yeah.. wrong modification... got to think of an effective way of repairing situation like this...

Photobucket
pla-plated the inner frame, then putty to fill up all the spaces.

Hannya 「般若」FULL WIP COVERAGE
Hi ya guys, it had been some time since GBWC Singapore comes to an ending.
Quite a sad thing for me since I didn't maintain my position this year!

Never mind, I will make a comeback 2 years after my National Service!

I finally have some time to do up my WIP...

Here are the previous 2 links to my previous WIP.
PART 1
PART 2

As mentioned earlier, I will be showcasing all my hand drawn design sketch of Hannya.

Photobucket
the original idea, using a bow (天照 Amaterasu) & some insane mods

Photobucket
head development from 1st version (bottom left corner) to final version (bottom right). Center drawings are the different view of the head.

Photobucket
torso

Photobucket
the hand. my biggest influence came from Linebarrel (refer to WIP PART 1 )

Photobucket
design of the arm

I didn't draw the legs since there isn't much mods done to it as well...

Now is some mods done that is not in PART 1 and 2 of the WIP log...

Photobucket
shoulder armour

Photobucket
extended feet

Photobucket
the fingers that I wanted! but not completed when I shot this photo

Photobucket
tragic accident when Hannya took it's first flight off the table :(

The Katana
Photobucket
the length measured with bandai's original Astray katana

Photobucket
shaping the tip (kissaki 切っ先)

Photobucket
the hand guard (tsuba 鍔)

Photobucket
the completed blade... crazy amount of sanding!

I started off with a 3mm acrylic... and ended my sanding at 2.22mm @_ @

Here are some useful skills I picked up this time round~

Photobucket
using a piece of rough paper, I sticked duct tape on it.
Then I layered some masking tape over for printing.

Photobucket
This method is useful when comes to highly difficult parts that you want to cut out from pla plate.
For my case, the tomoe (refer to PART 2) is one tough piece to cut out.

Photobucket
Here's a size-ratio comparison...

Photobucket
This method is also useful for decal placement testing...

It gives you a more exact sense of how your decal will turn out.
Relying too much on 3D software or Photoshop isn't going to help much in visualisation.
Unless you are like Takuya, the maker of YAMS-130B GREIFER, too much time to spend, then you do 3D visualisation (I swear this 3D model took him one damn long time, I'm a 3D artist too).

Up next... the diorama...

Photobucket
I started off with a simple wood setup. Base from Art friend while woods from Diaso

Photobucket
Then I cover with foam. For this time, I used High Density Foam.
This stuff ain't cheap, but I have tons of leftover from school project last time :D

Photobucket
Good thing about HDF is that, the pinning is strong and doesn't melt upon superglue.
All the pinning you see here are done with... toothpick and satay sticks '
Just apply some white glue all over to reinforce the strength and hold.

Photobucket
Next, when all the glue is dry. Apply cheap and domestic wall putty.
You no need high end material to get the effect.
It is just a matter of shaping and sanding afterwards when the putty is cured to get the shape.

Photobucket
Of course when you do rocks like this, there are bound to have tons of empty holes all over.
So if you have Hydrocal, use it to fill up the gaps.
Remember to add a minor amount of white glue to increase the hold of the hydrocal together.

Just bear in mind, while making rock diorama... NATURE IS RANDOM
There is no fixed answer to what you get in the outcome. The more random, the better.

Photobucket
attaining this texture is the first step to get a nice rocky diorama

Photobucket
now is the painting. I used acrylic paint for this diorama.
Using acrylic paint is a good choice since you can do blending of colours with water.
Unlike airbrush, it is easier to control the blending.
Also, it is more natural when you blend with water.

Photobucket
Then when all the blending and painting is done...

You apply an oil wash. For my dio, I used Daler Rowney Oil paints to do the job.
I used Raw Umber for the dark wash and interior shadings and Titanium white for all the white spots you see on my dio.

And when all these paintings are done... time to populate the whole diorama!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cheap brushes and sponges are used to make vegetation.
With vegetation, the whole diorama will look more convincing.

Ahh... long post indeed....

To end it... I would share some photos of the primed HANNYA.
I always got attracted to the grey shades of a gundam.
Everything just seem so... beautiful.
Alright, here we go~

Hannya 「般若」GALLERY
Hey guys, how is it going?

I was suppose to update my WIP log a while back...

But I didn't have the luxury of time to do so.

Oh well, just some photos of my HANNYA.

Will do up my WIP soon!

This is the original pose... I believe my joint got loosen on the day itself. Idk why as well, but thanks to leon(as I heard) who helped me reposed. I couldn't be there since I got a shoot going on. Thanks man.

All the photos are taken before chipping and weathering*
Cracks and panel lining are fixed in the end :p*

Hannya 「
Looks like I'm left with 46 days... ._ .

To start off... A cool pose of my Hannya with the Grand Slam from PG Strike. :D

The moddings are coming in nicely...
Been drawing lots of concept art as I work on the actual model itself.
Some portions of the modding just came naturally when I work on it.

While some are inspiration from other models that are already made.

I kind of liked how Bandai designed the waist armour for the MG Astray.

Credits to Dalong.net

I got inspired by it and came out my own version of the cut.

didn't have another Astray, used the bonus transparent part to do the comparison

I also left the center of the waist empty to reveal the interior hydraulics of the waist.

The surgery as follows~

Nevertheless, the results are good... :D

So now, I kind of learnt the art of cutting. But then again, painting's gonna give me hell.

Well basically, that's the main mod today...

I'm also glad to dig out my remainings of the GN-X I used last year.

The skirt and chest armours have been reused!

The rest are just photos shot tonight.

closeup of the head

the chest armour, initially wanna do a tomoe (巴)
but couldn't accurately cut the plastic, so yeah...

out to kill... Amaterasu『天照』[the bow] is coming~

side notes...

tomoe (巴) is a family crest for a certain family in Japan and in many taiko drums these days.
This triple comma tomoe is also known as the mitsu tomoe. Read more...
